Golf betting tips: China Open, Byron Nelson and LIV Golf Singapore

There are three top-tier men’s tournaments taking place this week, headlined by the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour, which returns to TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, for the fourth straight season.

The DP World Tour completes its latest Asian stint at the China Open, an event that is back on the schedule for the first time since 2019 at Hidden Grace Golf Club.

After a raucous week in Adelaide, the LIV Tour also stops off in Asia for the Singapore event at Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course.

McKibbin poised for second win

This venue has tended to favour long drivers and Tom McKibbin should fit the bill when he makes his China Open debut at Hidden Grace.

McKibbin has to concede course experience to some of his rivals but the Northern Irishman is in excellent form, finishing in the top 16 in six of his last seven DP World Tour starts, with his latest encouraging effort being a seventh-placed finish in Japan last week.

Tip: Outright winner – Tom McKibbin @ 16/1 with bet365

Former champion brimming with belief

Hidden Grace hosted the China Open in 2014 and 2019 – and the 2014 champion could shine again having rediscovered his self-belief on the Challenge Tour in recent weeks.

Alexander Levy has form figures of 7-4-2-9 on that circuit and he adores this course. He also finished 25th, fourth and eighth in three editions of the Shenzhen International held here from 2015 to 2017.

Kim can make his form count

Struggling Jordan Spieth heads the betting at the Byron Nelson but his fellow Dallas resident Kim Si-woo looks a much better bet in his bid for a fifth PGA Tour title.

Kim finished second behind Jason Day in this event last season, firing a brilliant final round of 63. He tees it up this time around with his long game in excellent shape, having finished in the top 30 in his last five PGA Tour events, all of which were stronger than this.

Tip: Outright winner – Si Woo Kim @ 18/1 with bet365

Scott has the right approach

Jason Day doubled up in the Byron Nelson last season and there looks to be every chance that his fellow Australian Adam Scott can do likewise in this year’s event.

Accurate approach play tends to win out at Craig Ranch and Scott struck his irons superbly when 22nd at the Masters. The 43-year-old was eighth at this venue last year and he returns with a solid bank of recent form behind him.

Tip: Outright winner – Adam Scott @ 28/1 with bet365

In-form Oosthuizen an break duck

After winning back-to-back DP World Tour events in December, Louis Oosthuizen has been knocking on the door on the LIV Tour this season and the South African looks ready to bag a first win on the breakaway circuit in Singapore this week.

The Serapong Course is a water-strewn layout where tee-to-green accuracy is of paramount importance and Oosthuizen, who was a runner-up at the 2012 Singapore Open at the venue, is well equipped to handle this test.

Tip: Outright winner – Louis Oosthuizen @ 14/1 with bet365

Garcia should shine again

Sergio Garcia found Sentosa to his liking in 2018 when he won the Singapore Open by five strokes and the Spaniard reaffirmed his suitability for the course in last season’s LIV event, only losing out to Talor Gooch in a play-off.

Garcia struggled in Adelaide but he is a two-time LIV runner-up this year, including in Miami at the beginning of April, so he could easily bounce back to form.

Tip: Outright winner – Sergio Garcia @ 20/1 with bet365
