Sunday will also be North Texas’ first-ever game versus the Rams. The matchup is scheduled to tip-off at 10:30 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on the YES Network and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on The Varsity Network app.
The Mean Green (5-3) enter Sunday’s game once again as one of the nation’s top defensive teams as they are holding opponents to just 58.3 points per game, which as of Friday ranked fifth-best in the nation. They take on a Fordham (4-5) squad that is also elite on defense, especially at forcing turnovers. The Rams last year went 25-8 and finished second in the competitive A-10 conference with a 12-6 league record. Fordham is a veteran team that includes seniors Kyle Rose and Abdou Tsimbila who were each named to the 2023 A-10 Preseason All-Defensive Team. Mean Green fans might recognize one of the Rams starting guards Japhet Medor as he played last season at UTSA with current UNT guard John Buggs III. Medor faced UNT just once last year and led the Roadrunners with 12 points but in a 78-54 loss in San Antonio to UNT.
Sunday is the Mean Green’s second consecutive game away from home. They are on a current three-game road trip. After facing Fordham on Sunday they will take on Mississippi State on Dec. 17 in Tupelo, Mississippi. The game against the Bulldogs is scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. CT from Cadence Bank Arena.
