Frederick A. Stoicheff, 82, of Lewistown, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at Brookline Manor Nursing Home in Mifflintown.

Born Sept. 26, 1941 in Burnham, he was the son of the late George and Carolyn (Gontarski) Stoicheff. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Michael, David, Daniel, and Theodore Stoicheff.

Fred is survived by his brothers, Karl Stoicheff, of Lewistown, and Gregory Stoicheff and wife, Barbara, of State College.

Fred honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Army.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lewistown.

A standout running back that played under legendary football coach, Alex Ufema, Fred was known as one of the fastest running backs to ever grace Mifflin County, having ran the 100-yard dash in 10 seconds flat. He was an instrumental piece of three undefeated seasons at Lewistown High School from 1956 to 1959. He was the leading rusher in the state of Pa. in his senior campaign, and even held the record for most yards per carry in that same season. As a senior, He was invited to play in the Big 33 game as a running back for team Pennsylvania. He attended The United States Military Academy at West Point, and University of Pennsylvania, playing football at both colleges. Later in life, he returned to the family business, Stoicheff Auto Parts, in Lewistown, and co-owned and operated the business alongside his brother, Karl for many years.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N Dorcas St, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Burial will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted to King-Barr Funeral Home LLC, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
