Cottage on grand Norfolk estate named one of the UK’s best places to stay



The Telegraph has released their picks for the nation’s top holiday cottages with Bureside coming out at the top.

The cottage sits in the quaint hamlet of Itteringham Common in the Blickling Estate and is run by the National Trust.

Gaining its name from the private section of the River Bure that meanders through its garden, the holiday home is a walk through the ancient Great Wood away from the famous main hall.

The Jacobean house is surrounded by walks journeying around lakes, woodlands and its mausoleum.

The landscape around the cottage was commended by judges, saying: “The big draw is its location and its grassy gardens leading to the River Bure with scenic walks through the estate’s ancient woodlands on the doorstep.”

Sleeping four, a five-night stay at Bureside costs from £934 and is available to book through the National Trust website.
