As everyone else prepares for Thanksgiving, the staff at the California Living Museum were preparing for their own big celebration.
In advance of Friday’s opening of its annual HolidayLights experience, on Monday CALM hosted a media and sponsor preview offering a sneak peek of what visitors will be able to expect.
After two years as a drive-thru experience, HolidayLights has returned as a stroll-thru event with light displays designed by Josh Barnett and his company Lightasmic!
Guests will be able to enjoy light displays, ride the Candy Cane Express train, purchase snacks from agency partner Teen Challenge as well as enjoy some new elements. Added this year are The Pines Christmas Tree Farm, where you can purchase your tree; The Pines Market, an indoor and outdoor vendor fair; The Pines Creation Station, with free activities for children; and taking pictures with Santa at Santa’s Workshop.
HolidayLights opens Friday and will run nightly from 5:30 to 9 p.m. through Dec. 30 (closed Christmas Day). Ticket sales stop nightly at 8:30 p.m.
Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for children ages 3 to 12 and seniors (ages 65 and older); $10 for CALM members and military; and free for children 2 and younger.
Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online at calmzoo.org or at the CALM gift shop.

The CSUB Music & Theatre Department will present “Carmela Full of Wishes,” its Theatre for Young Audiences production that was held last week on campus. It is based on the children’s book by Matt de la Peña.
This show, which will start at 10 a.m., is included with admission to CALM ($10, $7 for seniors and veterans/military members, $6 for children ages 3 to 12, free for members and children under age 3). Those with a CSUB ID will pay $8 and $4 for children ages 3 to 12 they bring with them.
