Burton E. Olson, 85, Minot, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023 surrounded by family in a Minot hospital.
Burton Elroy Olson was born September 13, 1938, the son of Christopher P. and Iva L. (Sutherland) Olson, in Minot. He was raised on a farm near Parshall. He graduated from Parshall High School in 1956.
Burton married Darlene Wittmayer in December of 1962. They made their home in Watford City. A couple of years later they moved out to Edmonds, WA. They had 4 children. JoDonna, Charles, Sheila, and Bobby. They were married for 17 years.
Then in July of 1981 Burton married Susan Siverling in Edmonds, WA. They lived in Edmonds, WA and then moved to Norwalk, CT in 1989. In 1999 they returned to Minot when Burton retired.
Burton worked as a trucker driver for many years. He worked for Daniels Moving in Edmonds, WA. He then worked for Collins Brothers when he moved to CT until 1999 when he retired.
He enjoyed dirt bike riding and camping with family and friends in his younger years. He liked playing golf with friends. He enjoyed working outside in the backyard caring for his garden and yard. He liked going to the casinos with his wife Sue. He had a huge collection of model trucks that he collected from all around the United States and had a room to display them.
Surviving family includes: wife of 42 years, Susan Olson, Minot; children, JoDonna Olson, Arlington, WA; Bobby Olson, Stanwood, WA; brother-in-law, Danny (Carol) Siverling, Edmonds, WA; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Burton was preceded in death by his parents; stepdad, Arnold Wenzel, children; Sheila Olson, Charles Olson, brothers; Vance Olson, Loren Olson, sisters, Janice Barr, and Lila Weigel.
There will be a private family burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
